I saw this on the Shreveport Times forum where you posted it. (cariniabean there) Now I've run across you on a bored afternoon lunch hour at the Atheist Meetup site. It's nice to know there are other atheists in SBC, even if, according to the meetup site, that number may be as low as 9 or 10. As for the Phelps family, we were talking about them recently on God is for Suckers. They represent the worst in people. Yet many Christians will see these people on television, comment on their attrocities as "horrible" and "disgusting", but never realize that the Phelps family believe the same things they do. Albeit, perhaps a more literal and intense version. My own mother does this. She thinks these people are awful, yet her beliefs seem to be the same as far as I can tell with her bandying of racial slurs and comments about the sexual orientation of others. Christians need to open their eyes, at least a little, and see themselves in the Phelps family. The rest of the world certainly does.

Randal, thanks. I registered, but I will have to activate at home where I can access my personal email account. God Is for Suckers is....irreverent, to say the least. Feel free to browse the archives and post on the newest stories. These are the most open-minded people I know, and they range from teenage to 90+. The site is also a great jumping-off point for accessing other atheist sites. There's an RSS feed, as well, I think. ;D
